Dr. Sommer performs outpatient foot surgery in the convenience of the Chandana Surgery Center, the Valparaiso Surgery Center of Porter Memorial Hospital, and the Portage Community Hospital. |
Most foot and ankle surgery is performed under local anesthesia and/or IV sedation to allow the greatest amount of ease and comfort to the patient. The home-like atmosphere of the surgery centers helps to create a very pleasant experience on the day of your surgery. The typical surgery patient has only a two to three hour stay at the surgery center before they are able to return to the comfort of their home.
Dr. Sommer performs many minor surgical procedures right in his office. Surgeries involving more extensive work such as bone and joint reconstruction are done in the Hospital or Surgery Center.
